Island Fusion Agro Forestry Limited (IFAFL) is a Papua New Guinea-based enterprise officially registered on May 19th, 2023, under the 1997 Company Act (Company No. 121-120908). Situated in East New Britain Province, IFAFL is deeply rooted in agroforestry and specializes in the cultivation, processing, and promotion of high-quality balsa wood. With a vision to transform the rural economy, IFAFL is committed to empowering smallholder farmers by creating an inclusive and competitive value chain for balsa wood. Historically, East New Britain has produced 9% of the world’s processed balsa wood, yet rural communities contributing 98% of this output often receive minimal returns. IFAFL challenges this imbalance through a sustainable Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. The company partners with provincial authorities, clans, and stakeholders to ensure equitable benefit-sharing and transparent market access. By focusing on downstream processing and direct exports, IFAFL aims to bypass middlemen, increase rural incomes, and promote local ownership of the industry.
